Parents

My parents came to visit at the weekend. It's the first time they've seen our house... and they weren't particularly impressed. Which is fair enough, it's pretty rough and ready at the moment. But they thought it would be lovely when it's finished. We agree: we can't wait till it's finished!
We went to Cartmel on Saturday and had a little look about the priory there, and then walked up Hampsfell. There's a 'hospice' at the top, a stone refuge, with a flat roof and astounding views: to the south Blackpool, the open water and in the distance Wales; to the east the Pennines; to the north the big peaks of the Lake District; to the west the peninsulas and more water. I didn't take my camera which was silly. In the evening we had a lovely dinner in our local restaurant.
On Sunday we visited Hawkshead after a stroll around Tarn Hows and it was very pleasant.
As Bowie said "We could be tourists, just for one day".

I found myself singing it with those lyrics until I realised, it's meant to be heroes!
Sounds lovely though. Beats walking around Shinjuku on the first day of sales!

I hope you realise that you are living in the best place in the UK, I only get chance to get up there a couple of times a year and it's really not enough. Please dont forget your camera next time, its nice to see the landscape throughout the year.

I have been getting a bit blasé of late. I plan to climb Great Gable at the weekend - hopefully the weather will be good so I can take some pictures ;-)
