Paint it white
Our little house is pebble-dashed. Most of the houses round here are pebble-dashed for some reason. It's a bit of a shame that ours is really - it was built in 1750 out of big rocks which look rather nice (one end of the house isn't pebble-dashed so we can see what it's hiding). Anyway, it's currently a horrible mucky brown and black, which makes it look rather shabby. We'd started to paint it white a few weeks ago, but, as you'll know if you've ever tried to paint pebble-dash, it takes absolutely ages to get paint into all the little nooks and crannies. So I spent the weekend painting away. There were some scary moments as I was perched at the top of a ladder reaching up to paint under the eaves, with dogs running around below barking at me, wondering what I was doing, but it was actually quite pleasant: the sun was shining, iTunes was on (playing Hippocamp Ruins Pet Sounds that I'd downloaded and which is AWESOME). All in all I spent about 5 hours doing this, and now one side is totally white. It looks good. Whilst I was up the ladder it occurred to me that all I was doing was changing the colour of the wall from brown/black to white. If only CSS existed in the real world!
