Elephant
Blockbuster DVDs are quite expensive, but if you go for the slightly older ones, you can get 3 for £5 for 7 days. So that's what we did.
So 'David Gale' was last night, and tonight was Elephant. This is a proper 'film student's film' - boy, the dissertation opportunities - and not really a Sunday evening film, which is unfortunate for us as we watched it on Sunday evening.
But it looks awesome and the players are all interesting, the camera work is visible and entertaining of itself, the shifting of time is elegant and useful, and the plot is simple and obvious (if you've heard about the film in advance) but seems to develop quite casually as if to imply a meaning without making it seem as if it was entirely meant.
However, the best thing about it is the blonde kid's hair: I'd love to have hair like that.
