Right oh.
As you probably know, I have a Land Rover. It's noisy and rattles, and it leaks a bit and it's quite slow and all that typical sort of Land Rover stuff. But I love it and think it's the coolest vehicle available. Or at least it will be.
I spent last weekend putting in some ICE (In Car Entertainement). Ok, that may be a bit grand. I spent the weekend putting in a new stereo and four speakers.
Hang on, I should go back a bit. A little while ago I put in some panels in the back. I don't know if you're familiar with Defender hard tops, but the back is just bare aluminium. Whilst this is practical, it's very noisy. So I put some panels up and carpeted them. It was onto these that I put two of my speakers.
Anyway, I now have music in my Land Rover. However, my choice of stereo was very limited: it couldn't be too flash 'cos Land Rover locks are useless; I had to be able to plug in my future iPod. So it's a £35 tape player... with a CD line-in. I've so far only tested my ICE with a Blur tape ("Tracy Jacks, works in civil service") but it sounds a bit shit: the tape's old and the tape deck is very basic. Plugging another source into the CD line-in should sound better. But I'll have to wait and see.
The last part of my Land Rover ICE upgrade is the iPod... so I ordered a 20GB 4th generation version yesterday :-) I love driving along listening to my music and I can't wait to get ALL of my collection into my Land Rover with me - bring on the good times.
