In the world of blogging, the regular blogger is king.
I recently found out that my blog has a few more readers than I'd realised. I knew you read it, but there were some others I had no idea read it.
I've spent a fair few hours over the years thinking about what it means to blog, what you can and can't say, the sense of liberty of being read by strangers and the limitations of being read by friends, the unique thought process you go through coming up with your blog, how often you should blog, what to say if you've got nothing to say....
If you don't blog, you won't quite understand the peculiarities of it: it's very different from keeping a diary or writing an offline journal. And finding out there are some readers you didn't know about adds an extra layer to consider when blogging: be careful not to offend a potential reader. This doesn't mean I won't blog what I mean or proffer my true opinion. Rather I won't blog badly of anyone I know, meet, would like to meet, or blog badly about something someone else has done or said, or blog badly about who I work for, worked for, would like to work for.
It's like being blindfolded and put infront of a camera and told to speak your mind: the results are broadcast live across the world, and although there will be very few who will watch, you'll never know who they are. So you have to think carefully about what you say because you do want to say something - it's worth it - but you don't want to get yourself, or anyone else, into any kind of trouble.
But I know you read it, and I'd never dream of blogging anything bad about you anyway ;-)
