This weekend was spent avoiding the rain – it was torrential pretty much the whole time! The valley in which we live seems to have its own weather system created by the mountains – the wind rushes down it bringing all the rain along and making it rather unpleasant. So I went to the shops on Saturday, wandered about looking at fleeces and boots and climbing ropes and penknives. It may sound feeble but I could do this sort of thing all day, I love all that stuff. I bought a couple of things including some chips and a can of Tango. I watched ‘Shaun of the Dead’ in t’evening. It’s very good. If you liked ‘Spaced’, I’d recommend this. If you didn’t, bugger off!
Sunday was spent hanging about. I washed the car in the rain. I drove 30 miles to buy 6 onions. I watched ‘Calendar Girls’ (which is also very good).
I learnt something interesting t’other day. The phrase ‘don’t throw the baby out with the bath water’ comes from the days when the whole family would use the same bath water: dad first, then all the boys, then mum, all the girls and finally the babies. By then the water would be pretty manky so you could have quite easily lost t’baby in t’water. Ha!
