Yesterday I took part in the tug-of-war competition, part of the SuperSix competition that's seen me play short tennis, basketball and hockey. With six people on either end of the rope, we pulled our hardest, leaning back with all our weight, gripping with raw hands and screaming red faced to "PULL!" Best of three, three times. We won each and were looking like the favourites for the final. But we were knackered - it was bloody hard work, each round leaving us feeling wobbly and light-headed.
The final started well - we won the first round without too much trouble. The second round seemed to last for hours: we struggled to maintain our ground as our opponents slowly pulled us towards them. This went on for too long and we lost. So it was one all - the decider. This was it, all-or-nothing time. We really went for it...and we won! It was great and we were delighted. That win, together with our win in volleyball, placed us 3rd overall in the SuperSix competition, not bad for a bunch of misfits!
I'm bloody sore today though, bruised and battered and very stiff. I'm not so sure it was all worth it now ;-)
