You know how smells trigger memories? I was just walking down the corridor when a nice smell from somewhere transported me back to Le Pin and Monsiuer Bernet's shop. In that split second I was standing in my flip-flops buying Malabars and Carambars before heading down to the lake. It was literally only a fraction of a second but that was all I needed to be instantly reminded of the summers we spent at my grandmother's in France. Years of experiences and memories recalled just like that - it's amazing. I wonder whether I could remember the smell by thinking about the memories? Hang on.... Nope, it doesn't seem to work the other way round.
I wonder what that nice smell was - perhaps it was a madeleine.
