I read an article this morning about how the writer of one of the blogs I regularly read has been signed up for a lucrative book deal. This got me thinking: maybe I could be signed up for a lucrative book deal.
So I'm going to scrap this blog and start a new one, a more professional and consistent one, all about my life as a doctor in an Iraqi hospital or something suitably serious. It'll be loved by all, especially journalists and anthropologists, and will feature highly on the Guardian's best blog list. It will be critically acclaimed, discussed on Newsnight Review in a piece about hitherto undiscovered literary genius, and linked to from countless inferior blogs. All this success will catapult its authour to the top of the UK's rich list.
This 'rags to riches' story will inspire the bored, keyboard-poking blogging masses who will copy it in desperate attempts to escape their monotonous 'office hours'. The resulting explosion of pretentious and badly-written personal experiences will overload the Internet, Paper Mate will enjoy a renewed interest in handwriting and using computers will once again be deemed nerdy.
Right, I'd best get started....
