Keep the kitten safe
_______________________

It snowed yesterday.

All of Wales got at least a sprinking of snow, with some areas getting great big dollops. We got a pretty big spoonful here in the valleys and by 3pm there was so much that our VC told us all to go home. I decided to wait a while before leaving and went for a little wander round campus and it was all very pretty.
So, over 1,000 people tried to leave the geographically tiny Glamorgan campus at the same time. Seeing thousands of sophisticated and intelligent people sitting in their cosy-looking cars queueing to get onto the main road and then home highlighted how much we're all a bunch of dozy twats.
Determined not to join them sitting in the stationary queue of cars, I took an 'alternative' route. There are 2 normal ways out of here: left, through Treforest and onto the dual carriageway; right, along a tree-lined road to a hill, then down to the dual carriageway. Neither is particularly quick and waiting times to join the dual carriageway can often reach 1 hour. My 'alternative' route isn't particularly well-known and involves driving up a very, very steep hill, along a single-lane track, over the 'mountain' and down to join the dual carriageway. Last night's journey along my escape route was very exciting since the track was covered in snow and my car spent a fair while wheel-spinning. But I got along it and down and onto the dual carriageway without incident and without feeling like a dozy twat sitting in a stationary queue.
