babyatom's BIG BLOG was somewhere for me to air some thoughts and tell you about what I'd been up to between March 2003 and January 2006. I'm now here

It was a funny old weekend. Well, it wasn't particularly fun but it was very productive. We're in the process of 'doing' our bathroom and we 'did' quite a lot, which is unlike us.

When we moved in 2 years ago, the big pink corner jacuzzi, pink bidet and pink toilet were sort of fun, a hideous novelty. The fact that there was no sink was also fun and introduced us to the 'Pumping Station', a reclamation yard on Penarth Road, where we bought an old sink (white). We painted the walls a lovely bright pink and added groovy multi-coloured circles as a border around the tops of the walls. It was, well, groovy.

Anyway, 2 years was a long time ago and, since we weren't that keen on our bathroom back then, you can imagine how we felt about it now. Hence the decision to 'do' it. On Friday we went to Ikea to buy the sink and associated bits, of which some weren't in stock :-(. On Saturday we went to B&Q and got the toilet, taps and associated bits, and tried to get the bath. They didn't have any in stock so we drove around looking for one and finally found one, less than a mile from our house. Typical. We then got home and started taking the tiles off. Boy oh boy, what a nasty job that is! It would have been ok if it wasn't for the mouldy, crumbly walls behind the tiles. So we chopped all the tiles off (including some mirror tiles), hacking away at half the wall as well and by the end of Sunday the bathroom was ready for the good stuff (putting everything in), which will begin on Tuesday.

I watched 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' last night. I love the Coen brothers but for some reason didn't like this film the first time round. I loved it the 2nd time though. Phew!
