Pork pie champions

I saw this on a sign at lunch time:
"North West Pork Pie Champion, 2004".
Isn't specialism marvellous.

I listen to my iPod on shuffle on the way to and from work. A song came on this morning that I'd not heard for a while and I'd forgotten was on there. Can you guess what it is from these lyrics?
"When I was a very small boy, very small boys talked to me."
