We watched a lovely movie last night

It's the story of a man and his son's efforts to understand him. It doesn't sound great does it, but it's got some quirky moments and it looks nice.

More Popular Idioms
A bird in a band is worse than a bush (in the 60s, it was believed to be bad luck to have a girl in your rock band)
Filling two birds with Juan Stone (a notorious porn movie, now banned in the UK)
A strolling gnome fathers no moths (a song from a deleted scene from 'Snow White')
Like a bag out of Hell (the carrier bags you get from the corner shop)
Still, waters run deep (often said by oceanographers)
