It was a hot Monday afternoon, I had my bike with me and I wasn't in any kind of rush. So I casually rode along the Taff Trail down to Cardiff. It was very pleasant, if a little warm. I'd broken the hour mark last time so I didn't have anything to prove, instead taking my time and looking around at the lush green countryside, smelling the cut grass and river water, feeling the cool breeze in my hair and the insects in my teeth. It took me about 1hr 15 this time and was much nicer.
I had a thought this morning as I drove in: I'm 31 and yet to be a father. No rush, sure. But my dad, who loves kids and I'm sure can't wait to be a grandad, is 69 this year. If it's another 4 years before I'm a dad, my dad will be 73 when Tiny Bud is born. That's pretty old isn't it. Anyway, it was just something that occurred to me.
