My new music review.
Grandaddy - Sumday.
These guys are cool! They're hairy Californian freaks who make a lovely soft sound. Their previous album was truly great - I was nervous about their new one. Fortunately, Grandaddy can be trusted, they're good guys. This album is totally lush - I love it. It's soft, intelligent and long-lasting. Some bits sound (I reckon) a little like Madder Rose and Ben Folds Five. but not really. I like Grandaddy :-)
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief.
I was really looking forward to this album. I like Radiohead - even though Thom is often thought of as a whiner, I like his singing voice. Anyway, The first track 2+2=5 starts fantastically but after a couple of minutes loses its appeal. This sums it up really - they do some great stuff and then go and spoil it by making some noisy rubbish. It's up to them of course but when they do something that you love, you get the feeling that you are all on the same wavelength. So when they go and do something you don't approve of, it's all the more disappointing. There are several good songs on this album but it's not a classic.
